In collaboration with CSR partners, donors, NGOs, and corporations, Why Waste Wednesdays Foundation is installing recycled plastic equipment in school playgrounds. Recently, playground and gym equipment installations were completed at schools in Maincha, Greater Noida, and MCD School, Saket. The equipment includes:
1. Benches: These comfortable benches, made from repurposed plastic, serve as a constant reminder of the potential for waste to be given new life.
2. Giant Abacus: An educational tool constructed from recycled materials, promoting mathematics learning in a fun and interactive way.
3. Tic Tac Toe: This classic game gets a sustainable makeover, encouraging strategic thinking and environmental awareness through its recycled construction.
4. See Saw: Emphasizing teamwork and balance, this see-saw is built from recycled materials, highlighting the importance of responsible waste management.
5. Arm Wheel: Crafted from recycled materials, this arm wheel promotes healthy exercise and coordination, showcasing the fun side of sustainability.
6. Bunny Hops: Designed to spark imagination, these playful structures, made from recycled materials, encourage children to explore movement while subtly promoting waste reduction principles.
By experiencing the transformation of waste into engaging equipment, children gain valuable insights into:
Waste Reduction: The playground serves as a constant reminder that discarding items isn't the only option. Each play session reinforces the importance of sustainable practices.
The Power of Recycling: The project showcases the potential of transforming seemingly useless waste into valuable resources, fostering a sense of environmental stewardship in young minds.
Engaging Learning: Interactive play equipment sparks curiosity and makes environmental education fun and accessible. Children learn valuable lessons without even realizing it.
